Hi, I’m Kristen, mom to these amazing boys. I started this blog back in March of 2009 when Andrew was first diagnosed, mainly as a way to keep friends and family informed about how his treatments were going. After Michael’s accident, when his condition was so tumultuous from minute to minute, we relied on it even more as people from across the country prayed while we waited for him to wake up, to talk, to walk, to come back to us.

At its core, this blog is still just a simple tool to get information to the many people who have embraced the boys’ story. But, at other times, its messages are bigger than just updates. Sometimes, I just need to say a little bit more.

I’m inspired every day by my kids — between them, they have shown more courage, perseverance, optimism, and faith than I have in my entire life. They’ve fought for their lives harder than most of us will ever have to. I’m also inspired — truly moved — by the many stories that have touched ours. Stories of cancer battle, cancer survival. Stories of injuries overcome, brains changed, lives re-defined. Stories of families, just like ours, adapting to the “new normal” forced upon them by an evil disease or earth-shattering injury.

I hope my blog touches your heart in the same way Michael and Andrew touch mine every day as they continue on their journeys to complete recovery.
